What we replace
A single front door, a door with one or two sidelights, a transom, and pairs used as a formal entrance. Oval glass, flush modern slabs, and traditional panels are all in range. The quote is for a system — slab, frame, threshold, and weatherstrip — unless we have confirmed the existing frame can accept a new slab and still seal.
Entry door frame replacement is its own line when the jamb is rotten behind the trim. New brickmould and a proper sill pan matter more on a front door than on any other opening, because the door faces the worst of the weather and the most scrutiny. Apartment and multi-unit common entries that need closers and scheduled access are handled as commercial work.
Glass, hardware, and the approach
- Glass inserts and lites. A failed sealed unit in the door can be glass replacement if the slab is solid.
- Deadbolt, handle, and the bore pattern. We measure twice because a pretty door with the wrong prep is a delay.
- Swing and the landing. A door that opens over a narrow step is a safety problem we will not copy.
- A storm or screen door in front, specified so the two handles do not collide.
Cost, without a invented number
Front door replacement cost in Manitoba depends on width, glass, sidelights, and whether the interior casing is saved. A plain steel or fibreglass slab in a good frame is a different project from a custom wood door with sidelights. We price the one you are actually buying, after measurement. Colour is chosen with fading and heat on a south or west exposure in mind.
How this differs from other door pages
Door replacement is the general method. This page is the front opening. Exterior doors cover the side and rear. If your “front” door is really a garden slider, you want patio doors. Installation of a brand-new entrance where no door exists is door installation.
Questions we hear on this work
Can you match a new door to older trim?
Often, if the trim is sound. If the casing is water-stained because the old sill failed, we will talk about replacing that trim rather than painting over it.
Do you install smart locks?
We can prep and hang hardware you have chosen, or supply a conventional lockset. We do not invent a monitoring service around the lock.
Is a front door with glass less secure?
Glass size, glass type, and the lock matter more than the mere presence of a lite. Safety glass and a real deadbolt are part of the specification, not an upgrade we hope you remember.
