Slab, or the whole pre-hung unit
If the frame is square, dry, and the right size, a new slab can hang on the existing hinges. If the sill is spongy, the jamb is out of wind, or the door was never flashed, we replace the pre-hung unit and rebuild the seal to the wall. Quoting only a slab when the frame is finished is how a new door leaks in the first winter.
Door replacement cost moves with size, glass, fire or security glass where it is required, the swing, and the state of the interior casing. We do not publish a flat rate. French door pairs and front doors with sidelights are real requests; a pair is not two copies of a single price.

Glass in the door
A cracked lite in an otherwise good door is often glass repair, including tempered glass where the code location requires it. Replacing the entire door because one lite cracked is sometimes necessary and sometimes wasteful. We will tell you which, after we see the edge of the glass and the condition of the slab.
What you can expect on site
- Measure the opening, the swing, and the landing. Outswing and inswing are not interchangeable after the unit is ordered.
- Confirm hardware: lockset, deadbolt, and whether a smart lock is going back on.
- Protect the floor, pull the old door, and set the new one plumb.
- Insulate the cavity, set the threshold, and adjust the strike so the latch closes without a slam.
- Walk the lock and the weatherstrip with you.

Can you replace a door in a day?
A straightforward pre-hung replacement often finishes in a day once the unit is on site. Custom glass, a rotten wall, or a widened opening takes longer and is scheduled that way.
Do you replace interior doors?
The practice is built around exterior doors and the openings that face weather. A single interior passage door is not the core service.
What if the frame is rotten but the door looks fine?
Then the frame is the project. A new slab on a soft jamb will not stay adjusted.
